It is modified to have a 1977 model year front bumper, as that model had not made it to market during the filming of the first movie. The model featured in the movie is a black 1976 model with a golden trim. The 1976 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am is the car driven by the Bandit in the first Smokey and the Bandit movie.
